Wondering what to match up with your wine gift? If you’ve already chosen a few bottles of wine to give to someone, you can always spruce it up a bit in many different ways. Instead of just showing up with a bottle, there are numerous wine gift bags that you can purchase to dress it up.

You can also make your own wine basket. Find a simple basket that you can fit one or two bottles of wine into comfortably. Then you can fill up the basket with whatever treats you want. Don’t worry about what foods match up with the Merlot you bought – not all of the food will be eaten with the wine. Many times people simply enjoy the food alone. There are a wide number of goodies you can buy, and you can find many of them at grocery stores with good variety. Look into high end chocolates like Godiva or Ghirardelli truffles. Fancy olive oil and sea salt crackers. Gourmet pretzels and cookies. Nuts like almonds and cashews work like a charm. Cheese spreads like pepperjack or garlic herb are great companions to the crackers as well as the wine.
