Love Wine? Visit Some of These Websites

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Not everyone can go out and buy dozens of books about wine every year.  Likewise, when wine guides and other local books full of wine information come out with updates, making your old guide obsolete, it can be frustrating.  That’s what makes the internet such a fantastic resource.  You can always find up-to-date information on all things wine, whether you want information for your particular area or for locations across the globe.  Try visiting a few of these websites and see what they can do for you:

LocalWineEvents.com – A great place to see all sorts of different wine-related events across the country or internationally.  There are hundreds of great events to visit, whether it’s right in your own backyard or across the ocean.

WineSpectator.com – If you want a professional’s advice about wine, this is the place to virtually taste it.  This is the online component to the popular magazine, so if you don’t feel like subscribing, you can always visit this site for some of the latest juicy bits about wine.

WineRelease.com – A unique website, its focus is on the release of new wines each month.  They provide you with its information, such as name, location, price, and year.  You can also sign up for their monthly newsletter to always be in the know when it comes to newly released wines.

Wine Online

Monday, July 5th, 2010

Thanks to the beauty of the World Wide Web, even the oldest of wine connoisseurs can find more ways to connect with other wine lovers, as well as find out more information than ever about their favorite wines.  You can find out the newest wineries in your area, discover food and wine pairings you never would have thought of on your own, and find great wine-related goodies that are perfect for parties or personal use.

Aside from all that this site can offer you, there are many other sites out there as well.  Different sites tend to focus on different things, thus they are able to offer you a wide range of services and information.  WineryAdventures.com provides visitors with reviews of wineries in a large area, ranging from the Midwest to the East of the United States.  WinesofNZ.com is all about New Zealand wines, from the different regions to the delicious wines.  Take some time to choose some of your favorite wine-related links and create bookmarks for them so you can use them at your leisure and share them with friends.

Wine Making

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I get many requests from people wanting to know about wine making.

I consulted with my neighbor who makes some of the best red table wine imaginable.  He told me that he buys his supplies from Cowie Wine Cellars in Arkansas.

So, I am passing on the information about supplies that you may need for your own wine making.  If you have other sources, please email me so that I can share the information with others.

Wine and the Internet

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I found this wonderful article on Eve Bushman’s blog – evewine101.blogspot.com and thought you would enjoy it.

The internet has allowed us to find wines that we otherwise miss.  For example, I had found a red table wine at Trader Joe’s called ‘Jest Red’ that was fantastic.  They ran out, but through the internet I was able to find it.  Eve found a winery that sells through the internet.  Enjoy -

On a recent trip to Napa, and staying at the guesthouse of winery owner Suzanne Phifer Pavitt along the Silverado Trail, I wondered how a small 300 case producing winery that stays away from retailers, restaurants and tasting rooms markets their 95 point scored wine. Through the web.

I met Suzanne Phifer Pavitt (www.phiferpavittwine.com) at a well-attended wine tasting event hosted by a website earlier this year in the Hollywood Hills. Her only label, literally hand attached as it’s almost a 360 degree circumference, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon “Date Night”, was being poured. (www.datenightwines.com )

Suzanne enraptured me with stories from the winemaking business in Napa that night and extended an invitation for me to stay at her guesthouse, anytime. That time was last weekend. And I got a few more questions about how a business markets itself on the Internet answered.
